| Customer Reviews: Tip to make this steamer work better January 30, 2010 S. Stanley (Arlington, TX) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have this steamer, have read reviews and through a little trail and error came up with what I believe causes this steamer to sputter for some, for others including myself a lot. What others have said does happen it will sputter and be inconsistent. Here is a simple solution I've found for me works every time. The unit has a power switch at the base of the unit (for those of you who don't own one), after turning it on, takes a couple of minutes to warm up. To start the steam there is switch you depress and hold on the hose at the top, near the steam nozzle. Every time I first start to steam something I'll get that sputter has others have mentioned. You can kind of hear the water working it's way up to the hose and I've had it shoot a little water a couple of feet. Here's the solution that works for me. Let off of the switch when you first start to hear water working it's way up the hose (after about 5 seconds of holding the switch at the nozzle) on the handle raise the hose as high as you can, and you will hear water drain back into the unit. It's my opinion that cold water is getting trapped at the bottom of the hose which I believe is causing sputtering, and inconsistent steam. This takes about 5 seconds to do, after that the steamer works great, a lot of steam in my opinion and will keep steaming as long as I have water in the reservoir. So this minor quirk of water pooling in the bottom of the hose is a little annoying, but it's a simple procedure to turn it into a great little steamer.
Dissappointed August 1, 2007 CatLady 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I ordered Sunday afternoon, it arrived Tuesday, which was fantastic, but the spray nozzle was missing so not happy. It was July 3 so I didnt get rep from manufacturer til 2 days later. The company was great, sent part right away, no problems from them. The steamer however was a huge dissappointment. The steam "meandered" out, was not forceful nor plentiful in the least, after 5 minutes in one small area of a blouse the wrinkles remained. Tried leaving steamer on for over 15 minutes to "heat up" and work up more steam, no go. It is an ok product quality wise and the company was responsive, it just didnt perform well at all. Returned product.
Very Poor Performance July 27, 2007 Mike Fiorito (Whittier, California) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Inconsistent amount of steam - yes it does sputter. Even when steam is visible, wrinkles are very difficult to get out. Kind of akward to handle, you almost need 3 hands! Will look for a model with a higher volume or velocity of steam. Sometimes prices are too good to be true.
