limited in several ways July 29, 2010 angELA For as small and inexpensive as this steam is, it actually works pretty well if you take your time and pull the cloth taut as you steam. The water reserve is tiny, though, and I could get though only 1 or 2 items before having to refill. Also, it only worked well on light clothes (like t-shirts). Heavier cottons, wools, and denims were still pretty wrinkled. I've used commercial steamers (having worked in retail clothing), and those steamers work on pretty much everything...but considering the price and size, I'd say this little portable worked pretty well. Just don't have lofty expectations...use this for touch ups, and hang on to your iron for the really wrinkly stuff. However, I will probably end up investing in a pricier model with a hook and huge water tank because I hate ironing.

Not overly happy with this item. Doesn't really hold enough water to even start what you need to steam. It just doesn't do the job I needed it to do.
Rowenta Ultrasteam - Read this before you use it. May 22, 2010 Brian Mitchell (KANSAS CITY, MO, US) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just purchased this unit today. When I first used it I was annoyed by the sticker on it that said "Unit may have some water in it from factory testing". Course this sticker had that adhesive that is like horse glue. Finally used a small amount of gun cleaner to remove it.. that worked well. Then the next mistake I made was not using tap water. After that mistake, I made was not understanding what the instructions meant by "take care that the buckler is properly in place".
I had no idea what the buckler was... as it was not on the itemized diagram of controls and components. Its the little plastic stopper on the water resevoir. If the little tab on it is not properly in the cutout hole for it the resevoir will fit on the unit but will not provide water to the steamer .. making the unit overheat. Unfortunately, it took me 20 minutes to figure that out. The unit never stops heating unless you unplug it. It is designed for small runs of clothes... say limit it to less than 20 minutes,or a couple items of clothing, otherwise it gets very hot during your runs to the faucet to get water. Lastly, the unit is designed to work upright do not try to hold it flat so the water goes in by gravity... I had done that during my first blunder with the buckler being in the wrong spot. I was somewhat disappointed the first time I tried to steam with it because I made all these mistakes and the unit did not provide steam well and sputtered water. I have used it three more times today now using tap water and it performs better every time I use it now. Mostly because I did not understand the design. Like I said now I try to only use it about 15 mins at a time then unplug it to let the unit cool down alittle. The steam is comming out better now and does not sputter like it did at first. Think I will keep it.
Good Deal May 6, 2010 Elizabeth Sweet (Philadelphia, PA, USA) I decided to buy a steamer after working in retail for a few months and witnessing the magic of the commercial-grade steamer we use in the store. Is this steamer as good as those? Of course not - but it does the trick. But since I do know how to steam a variety of clothes, I have found this product incredibly useful. It will not fully replace my iron, but is great for those items you hate to iron but that really would look better without wrinkles (t-shirts) or those things which are too delicate/I'm afraid to iron but are not ready to be dry-cleaned. I also love that it's portable with an ample cord - a great item to bring on business trips or vacations. The pump steamer works very well and delivers a steady high-volume of steam. I would like to have a larger water tank, but since I'll probably use it mostly in a bathroom (shower rods are a great place to hang items to steam them), it's not a big deal, considering how quickly the machine heats up. I am very impressed with this steamer, especially for the price.
It does the trick, but there are easier ways to accomplish the same thing March 13, 2010 David Gryte 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This definitely gets the wrinkles out of my suits. But I can typically accomplish the same thing using the steam from my showers by just hanging my suits in the bathroom. So, when I'm only traveling with a carry-on, I generally don't take this because of its size.
