Dependable travel steamer February 16, 2010 Taryn L. Connery (Boston) Used this on my wedding dress after it traveled 24 hours to Southeast Asia for our ceremony.
It performed brilliantly on a silk jacquard sheath that was folded up pretty tight!
love this gadget January 12, 2010 Nora Castleton (USA) just bought last week; I love it! No dripping at all! (I returned a Tobi Buddy for dripping). I like that there is a button to press that releases the steam unlike others where the steam just comes out on it's own. Yes, the reservoir is small(enough for one garment at a time).
Disappointed in this Rowenta product December 27, 2009 The Lovebug (San Ramon, CA) As a long time Rowenta iron user, when I needed a new clothes steamer, naturally I turned to Rowenta. Despite other reviews warning of leak problems, I took my chances. From the first use, I had problems: 1) Hot water dripped from the water reservoir all over my floor, 2) The chamber required frequent refilling - probably due to the leaking 3) My hand was constantly in harms way, less from the steam, more from the hot water leaking. When trying to steam garment folds or folded seams, turning the steamer to accommodate the garment caused excessive leaking - of extremely hot water. I tried the steamer a second time and decided I was done with it. I returned the one I bought and the second (received as a gift) is going to Goodwill.
Crushing Defeat! December 25, 2009 J. Drake (Phoenix, AZ) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
My steamer arrived well packaged in a pristine box. The steamer however was in dozens of broken pieces. So they sent a obviously useless item. What a waste. Today is Christmas and I'm thankful for Amazon's easy to navigate return policy. Can't speak for Roweta, but I will avoid Warehouse Deals as a seller from now on.
Worked well enough at first, now it burns my thumb December 21, 2009 K. Soltis I've never written a review for a product on Amazon before - ever! - but was looking around to see if anyone else was experiencing the thumb-burning that I was. Turns out there are other reviews to the same effect!
I had an OK experience with the Rowenta steamer before the thumb-burning began. For six months or so, it would do a decent job de-wrinkling clothes. At the start of the first garment it would sputter some water out so I always tried to use it on something that could handle water spots so that nothing silk, etc., would get ruined. It always felt pretty heavy and I had to refill it quite a few times. But overall, I figured this was pretty much par for the course for a steamer. Never did figure out how the lint brush is supposed to do anything useful, just seemed kind of odd.
But now I can't use it for more than one garment because the button you press to make the steam comes out gets ridiculously hot. I think there's some cheap/faulty wiring that has made a lot of units do that. I'm hoping Rowenta replaces it for me until I can buy a new one since that's just not safe at all. I'm pretty disappointed, Rowenta is supposed to be so good!
