Easy alternative September 6, 2010 Sabu I have had the SteamFast SF-407 for about 4 weeks. Set up was fast/easy. I've experienced no leaks and it does what it's advertised to do. In our household it would never replace a steam iron, but does a good job for a quick alternative. Heats up very quickly. Couple things that would be helpful: a specific hanger for shirts that wouldn't leave a mark showing how it was hanging - like padding or something; and second, a bigger water container. If this was my only source of ironing, I would make or buy a big steam pad for pressing. A more expensive unit would probably have a "pause" button rather than turning the unit on/off. Haven't used it extensively, but so far, it was well worth the money spent.
Dangerous August 30, 2010 jasuntzu I bought this product thinking I would be better off steam cleaning my clothes to pro long their life. And it worked. One thing I noticed with the steamfast is a peculiar smell when I first used it. I thought "hey, maybe this will go away after the first use" Nope. I steam cleaned 5 shirts the third time I used it and the burning plastic smell was so bad that my wife who had just entered the room had to leave immediately. I was light-headed, dazed and a little nauseous. 1.5 hrs later, I am typing this review, still feeling a little weird. DO NOT BUY THIS. You get what you pay for.
Great Steamer at a great price August 27, 2010 Liz Our old steamer had broken and we were looking for something fairly inexpensive and useful. We found this one and it is excellent. It is so easy to use, things come out wrinkle free if you steam them soon after they have come out of the laundry.
Solid Steamer August 26, 2010 S. Battersby (New York, New York) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Steamer works well and is easy to maneuver and store. Only complaint is that the tube sometimes buckles on itself and prevents the flow of steam, and it sometimes does not operate as effectively when the water level gets to less than 1/3 full.
Nice for people who are REALLY short August 26, 2010 Kristin 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am 5'4 and generally consider myself short. But this steamer requires you to be on your knees to steam a shirt. I have used other steamers that held the item to be steamed above eye level. This is not even that. I am going to put it on a box or something to make it easier to use. Pretty rediculous to have such a short extension arm to hold an article of clothing.
