believe the reviews! September 7, 2010 farkel14 The only reason I even looked at this mop was because the reviews were so "hands-down" positive. And after using the mop myself I will tell you that it lives up to its reputation. I used it once, loaned it to a friend to try, and had to ask for it back! She used it to clean up dry wall dust and literally cried when it left her floors spotless. It cleans so well, and leaves almost no moisture (compared to a regular mop)! I'm back to buy another mop for my friend today. You can't beat the quality and especially not the value.
Better than expected September 3, 2010 nancy After having bought a Shark that stopped steaming after 3 uses, I was hesitant to get another steamer. Read reviews on this product and at the low price felt it was worth a try. Was very easy to put together and though only used 3 times has done a great job each time. True it doesn't "sterilize" the floor, who needs that! If you want healthy kids who don't get sick at the drop of a hat, EXPOSE THEM TO ALITTLE DIRT(it builds immunity)! Definitely use about 2000-2200ml of water to avoid puddling. My floors dried quickly and looked great. The first time I used soap & water & a buffer due to the floor texture and the build up of dirt & other products. Used the steamer to clean any residual. Floors looked like new. Since, have used only steamer and they still look excellent.
You get what you pay for September 1, 2010 S. Russell (California) Don't get me wrong, the steamfast sf-140 gets the job done, but it's nothing spectacular. If you don't want to splurge, and don't mind that it doesn't exactly sanitize your floor-this is for you. It's basically a swiffer with warm water. That said, I haven't had any problems with it and like it just fine :)
SteamFast SF140 Mop August 4, 2010 Donna Farruggio (Atlantic City, New Jersey) What can I say, you get what you pay for. I had a Bissel and I liked it very much, but it finally stopped steaming. I bought a new filter but that wasn't the problem and I didn't want to spend anymore money on replacement parts. The new Bissels are so much more than the $49 I paid for mine. I did some reseach and the SteamFast is suppose to heat up enough to kill germs, and it was very cheap compared to the rest...and it cheaply made compared to the Bissel. Good points: the pad adheres easier. The bad: takes a while to heat up, if you have extra water when you are done it's a pain to empty, the cord is too short and it leaves too much water and streaks. Since I only use it every other week (not really suppose to use on laminate)then I'm OK with a cheap model, but if you plan on using your product a lot, I would spend the extra money and get a better product
Price, quality AND customer service - WOW! July 26, 2010 stella I had only used my steam mop once and I really liked the way it cleaned my laminate floor. We have two St. Bernards that leave HUGE footprints which just seem to come popping back into sight as soon as the floor dries. With the SteamFast mop, they actually disappeared - at least until the next rainy day. When it came time to mop again, I discovered that I'd managed to lose the boiler cap. It think it dropped on the floor was snarffed up by Nana (who assumes everything that hits the floor is food). The dog is just fine, but my mop was useless without the boiler cap. Since steam is pressurized, you can't just stick a rag in there and expect it to work. I checked the SteamFast website for a replacement cap. You can get new pads, but they didn't list the cap. I sent a note to their customer service email address explaining my dilemma and was pleasantly shocked to get a quick reply from Adrienne, telling me that all I had to do was send her the serial number and my address and they would ship me a new cap! It's so rare to find that kind of service anymore. My only regret with this purchase is that I didn't get a combo floor/handheld steamer. When I get around to order a hand-held, it will be a SteamFast model for sure!
